Happy Labor Day!

Dear St. Jerome Families, I write to you today in a moment of deep sorrow and heartbreak. We are learning, in real time, about the tragic events that unfolded at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the school’s student body morning Mass. This news is beyond comprehension, and our hearts ache for the students, families, parishioners, and staff whose lives have been so profoundly affected. In the coming days, we will determine how we, as a Catholic school community, can unite in prayer and solidarity with Annunciation. We will also work with our wider Catholic school family across the nation to support the Annunciation community and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. For now, I ask that we all: - Keep the Annunciation community in our prayers. - Remain vigilant and follow our established safety procedures at St. Jerome School. - Hug our children. We are all united in grief. In time, answers about what led to this horrific act will come, but today we focus on those who were lost—the most innocent among us—so that they are never forgotten. Let us lead with God’s love and embrace one another in prayer. For families in need of resources to help children process this tragedy, please find helpful guidance below: - https://www.apa.org/ed/schools/primer/crisis - https://www.apa.org/topics/gun-violence-crime/shooting-aftermath - https://www.apa.org/topics/gun-violence-crime/mass-shooting - https://www.apa.org/topics/journalism-facts/talking-children We pray for God’s comfort, strength, and healing for the Annunciation community, and for His continued protection over all of our Catholic schools. May Christ bring comfort and healing, and may Our Blessed Mother wrap this community in her loving care. St. Jerome – Pray for Us Church of Annunciation and Catholic School – Pray for Them God bless you all, Tom MacDonald Principal, St. Jerome School
